IPTV for EngineersThis is a two-day course for engineers who are tasked to explore the possibility of delivering TV content over IP i.e. IPTV The key learning objectives of the course are: 1. To provide participants a good foundation of what IPTV technology is. At the end of the course the participants should be able to differentiate between IPTV and the other popular forms of television delivery such as Cable TV, Satellite TV and Terrestrial TV. 2. Participants will also receive an in-depth explanation of what constitutes a successful IPTV system, particularly the IPTV network. Participants will be introduced to the key challenges that limit the performance of an IPTV system and receive pointers on how to avoid network congestion that can be extremely detrimental to the quality of delivered television programmes. 3. Finally participants are exposed to the intricacies of "getting content on-air" - how the origination and playback system that feeds and IPTV service works. It is most assuredly much more complex than loading a DVD and hitting the "play" button. Here participants will be introduced to how to enable the origination system for branding elements (graphics and sponsored logos) and how to integrate commercials (advertisements) into the programming stream in a manageable and highly reliable manner. |
